Free of Plastic Pollution

Restoring Posidonia oceanica in the Mediterranean

Posidonia oceanica plays a vital role in maintaining the health and biodiversity of our precious marine environment. Unfortunately, these magnificent seagrass meadows are facing numerous threats, including habitat degradation and human activities. As passionate environmentalists, we believe it is our collective responsibility to safeguard and restore this invaluable ecosystem.

Waste in the world's oceans poses a serious environmental problem. Plastic packaging, in particular, decomposes slowly and poses a danger to marine animals and organisms. Microplastics, moreover, have already entered the food chain.

Blue Water Mission

Blue Water Volunteers

Blue Water is actively involved in protecting the marine environment, conducting scientific research, dissemination, and raising awareness of environmental issues related to the sea.

Every year we host research volunteers who want to sail with us in the Mediterranean Sea, manage marine biology projects, develop new analysis methods, and promote awareness-raising initiatives involving local communities and dive centers.

Blue Water and our History

Our story began way back in 2003, when a small group of dreamy students decided to found a new working group. We have always been actively committed to protecting the marine environment, conducting scientific research, disseminating information, and raising awareness of marine-related environmental issues.

For many years, numerous research groups have participated in our cetacean surveys, both in Croatia and Italy. During the summer, research activities were funded thanks to our eco-volunteers.

Our passion for environmental education has allowed us to organize numerous themed events and promote teaching plans to many schools.

From 2007 to 2012, we were involved in social work with sailing therapy and dolphin therapy projects, sharing our experiences at sea with children with autism.

And then again until 2020, bringing on board numerous sea enthusiasts, freedivers, and photographers.

After a long absence, today Blue Water returns to the sea once again.

After a long absence, Blue Water is once again touching the sea. It's mid-November 2025. The first phase of renovations has been completed, and work continues for its next rebirth. More beautiful than ever!

Blue Water will be equipped for offshore sailing. The program includes whale watching and marine biology courses, which may include internships and additional snorkeling and freediving activities.

We would like to share our passion and knowledge with independent researchers, creating a research platform accessible to many research centers to share data and expertise in order to best safeguard our Sea.
